Teaching Bachelor/Master

Since 2012 I have an appointment as lecturer at the University of Basel. Already since 2003, during my appointment as scientific assistant as well as during my PhD and my PostDoc until 2013, I assisted in numerous lectures and exercises. All my teaching assignments are in some way related to projects and research that AUG carries out for cantonal and national authorities and therefore always have a strong connection to "real world" problems. I think this is important to prepare young scientists for their future working environment. In my lectures, students are introduced to concepts and methods that they can then apply in their BSc, MSc or PhD work. While my former teaching activities were mainly focused on hydrogeological and geotechnical issues, I am currently adapting them more to topics of urban water management and the sustainable use of water resources. Lectureships: CHYN-Neuchatel: Master in Hydrogeology and Geothermal Energy: Numeric Modeling I & II - Groundwater flow and heat-transport (since 2025) ETH-Zürich: Earth Sciences Master, Engineering Geology Landfills and Deep Geological Disposal of Radioactive Waste (course 651-4074-00L, annual since 2023) For MSc: “Geosciences for Urban Resource Management” (course 12080-01, biennial since 2019), previously "Geotechnics and Environment" (course 12080-01; biennial 2011 – 2017) For MSc: “Global Change Resources” (course 49077-01, 2020) For MSc: "Geophysical Methods in Environmental Sciences" (course 14353-01; biennial since 2012) For BSc: “Introduction to Hydrology and Hydrogeology I & II” (course 20626-01, biennial since 2020) For BSc: “Introduction to Geographical Information Systems (GIS)” (course 30613-01, biennial since 2018) For BSc: “Brownfields and Landfills” (course 17538-01; annually since 2017), previously "Soil Remediation and Contaminated Sites" (course 13579 01; annually 2012 - 2016) For BSc: “System Earth: Evolution and Dynamics (Part 2)” (course 14527-02, annually since 2020)
