Poor adherence to medication is a worldwide problem with some major consequences being ineffectiveness of the treatment, poor health outcomes, and increased health care costs. Some services exist to improve medication adherence in community pharmacies, such as the delivery of a pillbox. However, no structured consultation exists that is rooted in behavioral theory and assesses medication use with electronic monitoring. This project will develop and test a 2-step consultation for community pharmacies aimed at assessing medication use with electronic monitoring (initiation or implementation phase) and optimizing adherence.
