Research Project

The project investigates the constrast between private and social benefits of technological diversity. It extends Weitzman's idea of progress via recombinant innovation to a setting where the likelihood of success depends on the distance between technologies that are to be combined. This implies an optimal level of technological diversity that differs between firms and a social planner.
