Prof. Dr. med. Michael T. Hirschmann is the chair of orthopaedics and traumatology at Kantonsspital Baselland. He leads a clinical research team based at the Bruderholz Hospital focussed on all aspects of knees surgery. Major focus is the understanding of unhappy knees after knee surgery, particularly after knee arthroplasty. For this purpose the team collaborates with the London Implant Retrieval Centre (LIRC).
