Quality of life of care leavers

My PhD dissertation focuses on the quality of life of care leavers, using data from the JAEL project, a longitudinal study on the developmental pathways of children, adolescents, and emerging adults in residential care. My research examines the long-term effects of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and childhood psychopathology on the quality of life (QoL) of formerly out-of-home placed young adults, emphasizing mediating factors such as self-efficacy, self-directedness, and social support. The three papers of my PhD dissertation aim to understand how early adversities and psychopathology impact care leavers' long-term quality of life and identify protective factors that can enhance their well-being.
