We are interested in pathomechanisms, diagnosis and prevention of cerebrovascular diseases. Using modern epidemiological and imaging methods, we are investigating novel approaches in diagnostics and (preventive) therapy, e.g. in order to reduce recurrent strokes and other serious adverse events. The focus of these efforts is on molecular biomarkers in peripheral blood, thrombi and atherosclerotic plaques. Furthermore, we are interested in clinical neuroepidemiological questions.
